In 2007 the Real Estate Foundation approved a $15,000 grant to help the Centre for Sustainable Community Development (CSCD) at Simon Fraser University conduct post-occupancy evaluation research of several green building projects.

The study was undertaken by PhD candidate David Hendrickson under the supervision of Mark Roseland, Director of the CSCD. It found that, in some cases, efficiency gains enabled by green building technology are being overrun by increases in residents' consumption.
